Among Xavi's intentions for the upcoming season is the Barcelona summer signing duo.

One might conclude that practically all of Barcelona's new additions from last summer have been successful as the season nears its end.

Andreas Christensen in particular has distinguished himself. The Danish player has cemented his position as a pivotal player in the club's four-man backline.

He is one of the most crucial defensive assets, but he is now injured and cannot play in the upcoming match against Real Madrid.

Another player who has impressed lately is Franck Kessie. The midfielder has gone through a major turnaround since the turn of the year and now become a crucial element in the midfield department.

Buoyed by the success of these two individuals, a report from Javi Miguel suggests Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez is now committed to having both Christensen and Kessie as part of his plans for next season.

While Christensen’s future has not been a subject of discussion, Kessie was a major topic during the January transfer window. The midfielder was closely linked with a move away from Barcelona, with Inter Milan among the clubs interested in his services.

Due to the Ivorian’s performances since the turn of the year, Inter Milan have continued to keep an eye on the player. But it appears Barcelona have no desire to offload him anytime soon. The player would continue to be a Barça player next season.

This is hardly surprising as Kessie has played a key role for the Catalans, especially in the absence of the injured Pedri.

His role in the team, in fact, could increase further in this final stretch of the season as Pedri’s return has been delayed while Frenkie de Jong is facing a race against time to be fit before the Real Madrid tie.
