El Clasico against Barcelona and Real Madrid at Camp Nou will be officiated by these referees
The referee for Sunday's Clasico match between Barcelona and Real Madrid at the Camp Nou has been named as Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea.
The game will be overseen by the Basque official and his helpers Jon Nez Fernández and Roberto Dáz Pérez Del Palomar. In charge of VAR will be César Soto Grado.
It's fairly fantastic news for Barcelona if you're looking for omens. Bengoetxea presided over Barcelona's 3-1 victory over the United States in the Super Cup final.
He is also remembered by Madrid supporters—not in a good way—for ejecting Cristiano Ronaldo against Barcelona in 2017.
According to the statistics, Bengoetxea has officiated 25 games for Barcelona (with a record of 21 wins, four defeats and one draw for the Catalans).
He has also served as Real Madrid's manager 20 times (consisting of 14 wins, three defeats and three draws).
This season, referees have received a lot of attention, usually not for the best reasons, but let's hope that after the game is over, the players and not Bengoetxea are the ones being discussed.
