For Barcelona against. Real Madrid, Xavi is most likely to replace Christensen with an experienced Spaniard.

At the beginning of the international break, Barcelona was struck a severe blow as important defender Andreas Christensen sustained an injury.

The Dane was replaced during the first quarter of the contest due to an injury to his calf, which Barcelona later revealed occurred during the game against Finland. He was then declared ineligible for three to four weeks.

Christensen won't play in the second leg of the forthcoming Copa Del Rey semifinal against Real Madrid, which will take place right after the break for overseas travel.

Barcelona had a 1-0 advantage going into the game, but with Christensen, Ousmane Dembele, and Pedri all out, Xavi must make a crucial choice on his starting lineup.

Javi Miguel claims that all signs point to Xavi choosing Marcos Alonso to replace Christensen in the center of defense. Despite not being a natural center-back, the Spanish fullback will start over Eric Garcia.

This season, the former Manchester City starlet has lost Xavi's favor and has even been linked to a transfer out of Camp Nou.

Jules Kounde and Alonso are anticipated to form the middle defensive axis, with Ronald Araujo, as usual, scheduled to play right back. The former Chelsea player will be crucial in containing the Real Madrid forward line and providing stability in the middle of the Barça defense.

After all, keeping a clean sheet will ensure Barcelona's entry into the championship game as they attempt to defeat their longtime rivals for the fourth time since the year's beginning.
