Former Barcelona winger is open to a potential comeback.

Many La Masia talents leave Barcelona in pursuit of regular playing time and opportunities. The intense competition within the club often forces them to bid farewell, with only a select few managing to establish themselves in the first team.

Ilias Akhomach, a promising prospect, was among those who departed Barcelona this summer on a free transfer. He made the strategic decision to remain in Spain and aligned himself with Villarreal, a club close to his heart and home. Interestingly, his move to Villarreal has not closed the door to a potential return to his parent club, Barcelona.

Reflecting on his departure, Ilias shared insights into his experience. His senior team debut took place during Xavi's inaugural managerial game, a memorable 1-0 victory against Espanyol. Playing in front of a packed Camp Nou, Ilias described the overwhelming emotions he felt at that moment. Having spent 13 years in Barcelona's ranks, beginning his journey as a child, this opportunity was nothing short of a dream for him, despite acknowledging that it wasn't his best performance. The grandeur of the Camp Nou and the magnitude of the occasion left a lasting impact on him, contributing to his growth as a player.

Subsequently, Ilias faced limited playing time, which ultimately influenced his decision to leave the club. Interestingly, his departure occurred without a direct conversation with Xavi. However, he holds no grudges and expressed his desire to one day return to Barcelona, not out of resentment but to express gratitude for the time he spent in the first team.

In his current journey with Villarreal, Ilias has started accumulating valuable playing minutes. With a determined spirit, he harbors hopes of achieving a potential return to Barcelona in the future, aspiring to make his mark once again at his beloved club.
