Xavi will extend his contract with Barcelona until 2025 with a doubled salary.
Recent reports have detailed the contract renewal negotiations between Xavi and Barcelona. Initially, it was suggested that Xavi, whose contract was set to expire in 2024, had agreed to a two-year extension until 2026. However, due to Financial Fair Play concerns, it seems the extension will only be until 2025.
According to Luis F Rojo of MARCA, there has been an update on Xavi's contract situation. Although an agreement has been reached between Xavi and the club, it will only be for one year, not the previously reported two years. The initial talks had hinted at a renewal until 2026, aligning with club president Joan Laporta's term. However, it appears that Xavi's contract will now be extended by just one year, until 2025.

The negotiations for this new contract were not without their challenges. When Xavi took over as manager in November 2021, he accepted a salary significantly lower than the standard for managers of top-tier clubs. As the financial situation improved and Xavi led the team to a La Liga title, he sought a substantial increase in his wages, which the board initially hesitated to grant. Eventually, they agreed to double his current salary, but this came at the expense of the contract's duration, reducing it to a one-year extension instead of two.
With the team's squad improvements, there is now added pressure on Xavi to secure titles and make a significant impact in European competitions, particularly the UEFA Champions League, where the team experienced consecutive group-stage exits.
