Atletico Madrid is also interested in the Liverpool midfield target who dreams of moving to Barca

Sofyan Amrabat was one of Barcelona’s top targets during the January transfer window, with the club reportedly trying to sign him on a loan deal. Those reports were confirmed by the player’s brother recently.

Currently plying his trade for Fiorentina, Amrabat has not lost sight of a potential move to Barcelona, though.

This has been reported by Foot Mercato, with the reporter Santi Aouna stating that the midfielder wants to embark on a new adventure in La Liga, with Barcelona remaining his desired destination.

The player was contacted by Liverpool, but he is holding out for a move to La Liga. Barcelona, to that end, have not lost sight of him either and could target him as a potential alternative for Martin Zubimendi, who has a hefty €60 million release clause embedded in his Real Sociedad contract.

However, Barcelona are not the only possible destination for Amrabat come the end of the season. This is because the player also rates Atletico Madrid quite highly and had sung praises of Diego Simeone in the past.

The report also confirms Atleti’s interest in the player, which could potentially make life difficult for Barcelona. The player, though, does prioritise a move to Camp Nou as he looks to join in as a potential replacement for Sergio Busquets.

However, it must be noted that Fiorentina are not expected to let him out for cheap. The Violas are already trying to tie the player down to a new contract, and even if they fail, they are likely to hold out for a significant valuation for the midfielder.

Barcelona, therefore, have their task cut out and would only be able to afford the Moroccan international if they can sort out their economic situation in the coming summer.
