Target for Atletico Madrid is reluctant to leave Barcelona in the summer
The players who might leave the club have started to become more and more obvious as the summer transfer window draws nearer. Similar to previous season, a few key players might be made to go in an effort to significantly reduce the pay expenditure.
This time, rumors claim that Barcelona will try to profit from players like Ferran Torres, Ansu Fati, Jordi Alba, and perhaps even Eric Garcia. While each of the four is a vital member of the squad, the club believes they have been underwhelming and are replaceable.
Ferran, meanwhile, is said by SPORT to be unwilling to quit the team during the summer. In fact, he is confident in his skills and thinks Xavi will eventually need him for the project.
Ferran believes that he will undoubtedly see game action soon, despite the fact that his duties have been mostly confined to a bench duty.
According to the source, the player was the subject of inquiries regarding a prospective loan transfer from Atletico Madrid and an unnamed Italian team in January. Barcelona declined at the time owing to a lack of substitutes, but they have not yet made a decision about his situation.
The Spaniard was acquired from Manchester City during the winter transfer window of 2022 for just about €55 million. While he had a strong start with four goals and four assists in 18 games, there were severe concerns about his ability to finish.
This season, Ferran has scored just two goals in 23 games while missing seven significant chances, giving statistical proof to those fears. He is also underachieving his xG by more than two goals.
Considering how poorly the squad is performing in front of goal, Xavi is quite concerned about Ferran's lack of production and has already asked for the summer transfer of another forward.
