The five conclusions of the Barça preliminary report
According to the Barça president, "no conduct with criminal relevance linked to the crime of sports corruption has been identified, nor is there any indication that it affects the fairplay of the competition."
Joan Laporta presented at the Auditori 1899 a five-point summary prepared by the external law firm chosen by the 'compliance' department. In it, it is ensured that “no conduct with criminal relevance linked to the crime of sports corruption has been identified.
"I would like to read you the conclusions of the preliminary report of the external law firm that our 'compliance' department chose," announced the president of Barcelona, Joan Laporta, before showing them on the screens of the Auditori 1899.
"According to the accredited facts, no conduct with criminal relevance linked to the crime of sports corruption has been identified, nor is there any indication of affectation to the fairplay of the competition, nor are criteria given to study criminal modalities linked to bribery."
“Regarding the provision made by the companies and people investigated; These are sports advisory services (scouting and arbitration advice) that are common in the professional sports sector”.
“There is evidence of the provision of services, of their approval and evaluation in accordance with the criteria of the sports area. There is official documentation of invoices and payments, subject to documented approval and receipt of the benefit.
“The amount of the invoices is variable depending on the number of competitions that were analyzed. The consideration could have been agreed annually and billed on a monthly basis with variations”.
“Documentation obtained: 629 technical-arbitration reports plus 43 CDs, plus four different reports. And, obviously, more old physical documentation is missing, since it is normally destroyed after five years of storage”.
