Barcelona may discuss renewing the Golden Boy's contract next summer.

Over the past three years, Pedri has evolved into an indispensable asset for Barcelona. The 20-year-old, initially signed by the Catalans in 2019, embarked on a season-long loan at Las Palmas before making his way to Camp Nou in 2020. Since then, he has consistently played a pivotal role in the team's dynamics, whether under the guidance of Ronald Koeman or Xavi.

Following a remarkable debut season with Barcelona, Pedri's talent was globally acknowledged as he clinched both the Kopa Trophy and the Golden Boy Award in 2021. In recognition of his exceptional contributions, the club rewarded him with a long-term contract extension, securing his services until 2026.

Despite having three more years on his current contract, backed by a staggering €1 billion release clause, recent reports from SPORT suggest that Barcelona may reconsider Pedri's contract next summer, contemplating the initiation of negotiations for a fresh deal. This consideration comes as no surprise, given Pedri's integral role in the Barcelona setup, a sentiment emphasized by Xavi on multiple occasions.

The disparity in Barcelona's performance with and without Pedri is evident, making it a logical step for the club to offer the young talent improved terms that align with his status, while also keeping the financial realities of the club in mind.

However, amidst the celebrations of Pedri's excellence, concerns have arisen regarding his recurring injuries, which have become a cause for apprehension within the Barcelona camp. The Spanish international is currently sidelined due to a thigh injury, with an anticipated return date after the next international break in mid-October.

A 20-year-old Barcelona midfield prospect might be on the market for just €9 million in January.

Since his arrival at Barça, Pedri has suffered six muscle injuries, leading to his absence from around 60 matches. Despite his efforts to enhance his physique and strength during the offseason, another injury setback has prompted Barcelona to intensify their efforts in identifying the root causes of these issues and implementing measures to prevent their recurrence.

In essence, Pedri's journey at Barcelona has been nothing short of remarkable, with his swift rise to prominence and accolades affirming his exceptional talent. Nevertheless, the club faces the dual challenge of nurturing his potential and addressing the persistent injury concerns that threaten to disrupt his progress. As negotiations for a new contract loom on the horizon, Barcelona must carefully balance their desire to retain their budding star with the need for a sustainable and injury-free future for Pedri.
